  1. FileTyper will change the creator and file type of all files in a
  2. given directory. This is particularly useful when importing files from
  3. DOS or UNIX for use on your Macintosh. FileTyper works dependably for
  4. me, but please work only on copies of your files to be safe!

  6. 1. Click the “Locate” button to select one of the files you’d like to
  7. change. All files you’d like to change must be in the same folder.
  8. Only files with the file creator and type you select will be affected.
  9. The name of the directory your files are in will be displayed at the
  10. bottom of the window. The file type and creator of the file you’ve
  11. chosen will be displayed next to “Old File Type:” and “Old File
  12. Creator:”.

  14. 2. Click the “Select” button and select a file of the type and creator
  15. you’d like the files to become, or type in the file type and creator
  16. in the edit boxes provided.

  18. 3. Check the “Remove Filename Extension” box if you’d like the
  19. existing filename extensions (e.g., “.TIF” or “.EPS”) to be removed
  20. from all of the affected files. If you’d like to add a filename
  21. extension to all of the affected files, then check the “Add Filename
  22. Extension” box and fill in the new extension in the edit box. If you
  23. don’t understand filename extensions, then you probably don’t need
  24. this feature and shouldn’t use it.

  26. 4. Click the “Change” button to make the changes. A dialog box will
  27. display a list of the files that will be changed. If these are the
  28. files you want changed, then click the “Change” button; if not, then
  29. click the “Cancel” button.

  31. No payment is required to use FileTyper. The program works fine on my
  32. system, but I cannot guarantee flawless performance on yours. If,
  33. after using FileTyper, you decide it is of value, I gladly accept
